Disegnare una freccia (curva) con GIMP Script aggiornato dall'autore il 4 settembre 2017 (e leggermente modificato da me).
A volte abbiamo bisogno di disegnare una freccia su una nostra grafica, screenshot o altro per evidenziarne una parte, e GIMP (contrariamente a Photoshop) non prevede di default una funzione per farlo.
Si possono scaricare dei "pennelli" anche carini (come
questi o
questi), ma un pennello, almeno per le mie conoscenze niubbe, non è facilissimo da creare/gestire.
La soluzione più semplice è
scaricare un apposito script
dal sito Gimp Plugin Registry (
Gimp Plugin Registry è morto), che permette di disegnare frecce sia dritte che curve.
Possiamo però crearci un semplice file di testo con estensione
.scm, e metterlo nella apposita cartella di GIMP.

oppure nella cartella degli script di GIMP
C:\Program Files\GIMP 2\share\gimp\2.0\scriptsTroveremo la nuova opzione "Arrow..." in fondo al menù "Strumenti".
Come funziona lo scriptPer disegnare la nostra freccia, dopo aver
selezionato il colore di primo piano che vogliamo darle, dovremo prima disegnare un
tracciato (
path), selezionando questo strumento:
Disegnare una freccia (curva) con GIMPLo strumento "tracciati" di GIMP Quindi clicchiamo una volta per definire il punto di inizio (rilasciamo il tasto del mouse) e clicchiamo una seconda volta per definire il punto di fine della freccia.
Se vogliamo ottenere una
freccia curva, dobbiamo cliccare in un punto del tracciato e trascinare il mouse. Potremo successivamente spostare le cosiddette "
maniglie" per perfezionare la curva: in pratica stiamo disegnando una
curva di Bézier.
(Vedi Curva di Bézier su Wikipedia)Quando abbiamo disegnato il nostro tracciato (sia esso curvo o lineare), lanciamo lo script dal menù Strumenti -> Arrow.

Disegnare una freccia (curva) con GIMP Queste sono le mie impostazioni preferite: dopo aver giocato un po' con i parametri, ho modificato appositamente lo script per farli diventare il nuovo default.
Le impostazioni originali sono leggermente diverse. In particolar modo, le opzioni selezionabili dai due menù "a tendina" possono essere in qualche caso
interessanti (erano il default originale): selezionandole lo spessore della linea e della testa della freccia diventano
proporzionali alla lunghezza del tracciato che disegnamo.
Il risultato però è che molto facilmente ogni freccia viene diversa dalla precedente.
A me questo comportamento non piaceva particolarmente e l'ho modificato.
In questo modo lo spessore della linea e della testa della freccia sono un valore
costante in pixel (il valore inserito nei campi "Length of wings (LoW)" e "Brush thickness (BT)").
Occhio che i valori digitati vengono
reimpostati ogni volta che si lancia GIMP, in quanto programmati nello script. Per fortuna questo è un semplice file di testo, quindi lo possiamo modificare come vogliamo.
