...All that is needed to run BMS 4.32 is your original Falcon.exe which you can install from your original CD. Yes, we know that simply having the Falcon.exe is enough, but most fans of the series own their own disk anyway, so it is what it is.

...And for the first time, Falcon pilots would have a modern, fully-click-able high resolution 3d cockpit complete with instrument back-lights and flood lights that virtually eliminated the need for a 2d cockpit. That rose the next question--what do we do with the 2d pit?
Unfortunately with all of the 3d pit eye-candy goodness, there was little focus on catching the 2d pit up to standards and fixing bugs.
Even with the snap views, the decision was made to keep the 2d pit code and current state of the files in place. However, by default the "2" view is disabled along with the 2d pit itself. The "2" view and 2d pit can be enabled by setting the variable "g_bDisable2DPit" to 0 in the cfg file. This will allow the 2d pit to be finished or the 'quick' development of other pits, but encourages users and developers to go "full 3d pit". Since BMS is able to support high poly 3d pits, it doesn't make sense to develop 2d cockpits anymore using obsolete technology. The way forward is a single, unified 3d cockpit that cuts out the inconsistencies between 2d and 3d and takes advantage of today's computer hardware graphically and in function (think TrackIR).
