IL-2 Season converter version 1.1 by Porsimo * Copyright 2006 by Petri Johansson *

IL-2 Season converter is an utility designed especially for makers of static campaigns in
IL-2: Forgotten Battles and its later addons.

Compatible with all versions of FB and FB & PF merged. NOTE! ** Not tested with PF stand-alone **.

Using Season converter

This utility will switch all the objects from summer to winter and vice versa (objects that have corresponding
winter/summer counterobjects only) in your selected mission. It also changes the loaded map. Note! If you're
using a map that doesn't have summer and winter versions, you should select the "Objects only" option in
conversion options. Otherwise the mission will not probably load properly if at all in the game.

You can use this property also for changing only the objects even if the map has a another version to eg. simulate
spring / autumn.

There are two ways to do the conversion:

1. Creating a "copy"

a. Select the mission-file to be converted (source), by clicking the "..." -button (browse) or by typing the filename
in its field, but in that case you must also write the path for it. By checking the "Generate automatically from source
file's name" under output file field, the program creates an output name from the original by adding -CNV to it.

b. Select the output-file (file, in which the conversion result will be written) again by clicking the lower
"..." -button. This will open a standard saving window, so you can either select an existing one or give a name for
new file. The .mis -extension will be added automatically if left out. You can also type the name straight into
the "Output file" -field, but full path and .mis -extension has to be given.
If a file with the same name exists, the program will inform you from this before the saving process (even if you
confirmed the overwrite question in the saving window). If you cancel the save, you need to rename the output file
and run the conversion again.

c. Select conversion direction in "Conversion options" (Winter -> summer or Summer -> winter). Running a winter ->
summer -conversion for a summer map will not alter anything.

d. Select elements to be converted ("map and objects" is default). If you select "Objects only", the possible question
described in the previous selection will not be asked because the conversion will not affect the map.

e. Click "Convert"

2. Converting the original

The first way creates a separate file leaving the original untouched. You can also convert the original itself, but
this way the original will be replaced with the converted one.

a. Select the source like in 1.a. Check the "Use same for output", the "Output file" -field and browse button turn
into grey and are not accessible.

b. Follow the steps 1.c - 1.e

The last used source and ouput paths are stored into registry and used by default when you start browsing the files.

This software does not create a .properties -file for the newly created mission.
In the applications folder you can find a file named objects.lst. This is the file that contains the names of winter
objects and the corresponding summer ones. If more winter objects will appear with the game updates, this file will
also be updated and released for download.

IL-2 Season converter should not need installation but in the case that you can't use the browse -buttons (...),
please contact me and I'll send you a setup -pack.
